Play football, kubb (must try Swedish leisure game, badminton or croquet in Brukshotellet's garden. Swim in Skärsjön in the summer and take a ride on our sledge hill in the winter. Walk, hike or run?

Walk, hike or run? Short or long trails? Yes, there is something for everyone in Skinnskatteberg and here you can find a selection: Strandpromenaden ("The lake walk"). Along Nedre Vättern's lake just in the centre of Skinnskatteberg you can find a nice walking path alongside the lake that also has lightning in the evening in the evening. Along the walk there are two stations with exercise equipment that are easy to use. The lake walk is about 5 km round trip. Bruksrundan runs centrally in Skinnskatteberg and is about 3 km long. Here you get to learn about the local industry history and about sustainable forestry and aquaculture. At Herrgårdsbryggan (the bridge close to Skinnskattebergs mansion) you will also learn about the 17 global goals for sustainable development. An educational round along the river Hedströmmen. Click for map Klicka för karta The Bruksleden trail is 250 km long and divided into 27 stages from Västerås in the south and goes through Skinnskatteberg to Avesta in Dalarna. The trail passes a varied natural and cultural landscape and historic working-class communities. For each stage, there is a map and stage descriptions and you can find these on Bruksleden's website https://www.bruksleden.se/ or go to Naturkartan´s website https://www.naturkartan.se/sv/skinnskatteberg. Note that you can also download the app ´Naturkartan`. Geologislingan ("The Geology trail") takes you on a journey in the footsteps of the ice age. Through the 30 different stages, the journey goes through an ancient ice delta, ridges, dead ice grips and much more. The trail is 110 km long but you decide the length of the trip yourself and we can promise that after a walk in this terrain you will see the landscape with new eyes. You can also travel along the Geology Trail by horse and from Riddarhyttan there are guided tours by Icelandic horse http://www.forsenislandshastar.se. You can also book a guided tour on part of the Geology Trail. Click on the link to get to Geopark Riddarhyttan https://geoparkriddarhyttan.se/ Then we have Borntorpet's electric light trail (3 km long) which is centrally located in Skinnskatteberg where you can walk, run or ski in the winter. From the hotel to Borntorpet it takes about 3 minutes by car or 15-20 minutes if you choose to walk. Ormdalsstigen ("Snakevalley trail) is located in Baggådalen and is an approximately 6 km long circular trail. It's part of the Geology Trail. Orienteering boards tell you about the area's nature and history. Skinnskatteberg and Brukshotellet Skinnsberg are surrounded by two lakes, Övre Vättern and Nedre Vättern, so you have walking distance to fish for pike, perch and pikeperch. There are 244 lakes and streams in the county of Skinnskatteberg and there is something for everyone from simple angling to fly fishing in Hedströmmen. Trout are found in about 40 lakes. Fishing licenses and fishing tips are available at Runes Cykel & Sport, + 46 (0) 222 101 62, which is centrally located in Skinnskatteberg about 600 meters from Brukshotellet. Runes has a large and wide range of fishing equipment and sport fishing gear and here you can also get good fishing tips. Fishing licenses can also be purchased at ICA, which is located about 300 meters from Brukshotellet. The lakes are typicalla managed by fishing clubs or private companies like Svea Skog, which has an office about 30 meters from Brukshotellet. Brukshotellet Skinnsberg also has a collaboration with one of these fishing clubs, FK Aspen, which takes care of Tonsjöarna which is about 10 minutes from the hotel. Why not rent a bike at Brukshotellet and see Skinnskatteberg on two wheels? We have a small stable of bicycles that can be rented on a daily or weekly basis. The bike is three-speed, has puncture-free tires, package holders and of course equipped with environmentally friendly and dynamo driven lights front and rear. Combination lock and helmet included. Security deposit and ID requirements for non hotel guests. Maybe take a swim in Skärsjön and soak in the sun? There you can lie on a sandy beach, lawn or rock slab and jump in clear and cooling water. At Skärsjön there are changing cabins, toilets, jetties, diving towers and a beach volleyball court. Located at biking distance about 4 km from Brukshotellet. On the way to Skärsjön you can look at the award-winning Kolarbyn Ecolodge. If you want a little tougher challenge then take your mountain bike with you and test the Masbo trails, four different rounds between 2.4 and 5.8 km near the town. You need a good mountain bike that has at least a damped front fork. The longest trail has a beautiful stretch along the eastern edge of Skärsjön. The owner of the hotel also usually run this trail! This tour takes you around the country of Skinnskatteberg on mostly gravel roads through a rolling forest landscape along lakes and historical landmarks. To maximize your experience your should preferably have a MounTainBike (MTB) or Cyclocross. It is also possible to get around on a regular bike. The gravel trail take you to a more solitary place compared to the paved roads and closer to nature, bird- and wildlife! Along the trail you will find many nice places for picnics and barbecues.
